Next Steps

Tips for handling your agar cultures moving forward.

Instructions

Allow your dishes to dry

After sealing your dishes, let them sit at room temperature overnight to allow their surfaces to dry.

Condensation prevention

As they dry, you should stack your dishes upside down so that condensation doesn't build up on the agar's surface.

Refrigerate

After sitting overnight, put your Petri dishes in a plastic-sealed bag and place them in the fridge. You can store your dishes for months if you follow this process correctly!

Before inoculating the agar dish

Please remove it from the fridge before inoculating the agar dish and allow it to come to room temperature. Bringing the dish to room temperature also helps prevent condensation when opening the dish, which can lead to contamination.
